It was back in 2009, with a bag of clothes and a couple of grand in his account, that James upped sticks to travel across America. Utterly chewed up and spat out by the Big Apple, he gained 'baptism by fire' experience at The Blind Pig, 233 East 14th Street, New York City.
It was here that James was introduced to the classics. Mastering everything from a Manhattan to the 1934 Cosmopolitan, he brought his new passion west through Chicago to L.A. and eventually down under to Sydney, Australia. Here he gained knowledge of a more innovative, contemporary style of mixology.
Returning to the Isle of Man some years later, James recognised a thirst for different experiences; as well as a need for the highest level of customer service and an end product quality that rivals bars in any major city in the world.
With an insistence to do things his own way...Raise The Bar was born!
